Time to get dirty...

After almost 2 weeks kayaking in Chile we are starting to feel good about running stouts and charge hard. Today was the day to go run one of the craziest and scariest rapids I've ever seen. My old brother ran that drop 4 years ago now, with all the top rapids included... I doubt I would have run it without know that 4 other persons have run it since that time, most of them having crazy lines and good carnage...
my bro doing the 1st' d of this falls!
On the left you recconect on rocks, the middle is good to go and If you go too far right you fall in to a crack...
anyway the drop itself is not the worst thing, the real deal of this waterfall is on the entrance where you have to make a crazy move against a hole, don't get your boat sucked up in the curly and keep your boat sraight on line...
boats falling off after a bit too much of rally on the dirt road to the llancahue...
We geared up slowly and walked to the put-in falls, the more I looked at It the less I was feeling it.Too much options to get fucked and not much of stomping it without get any good hit... Luckily Evan was more fired up than me and decided to go first, he cleaned the entrance easily but missed a left stroke and ended up on the super far left side of drop where you reconnect with rocks, from the top I just got to hear the hit... He resurfaced fast and gave me the signal that it was good to go!
Evan going for it!
I stopped thinking about it and ran into my kayak. Did a few strokes and started paddling into it. I went too far In the left on the entrance and got flipped out. That was the craziest moment upside down just a few meters away of the less clean and stoutest rapid out there... I rolled up fast and kept charging hard in to the right. Even so hard that I ended up in the crack...
fuckin it up and going way too far to the right.
It went more smooth than what I expected and got to the bottom without flip, the impact was hard and I got pushed against the wall but safely made it down!
falling down
stoked till I felt that my gopro was gone... sad for that cause I will not be able to get one for quite a while but happy that we all didn't get injuries! A few meters after the Dirty Gerd you got this beautiful 10 meters drop, clean as it gets! We both had sweet lines, after the drop you have to be fast and get out on the right of the river, some rope work needed...

living the dream! chile strong as never before!

This last year is becoming the most incredible adventure ever, It has been a few few months out of home, living out of my backpack and travelling from one place to another. I arrived Chile a week ago, we haven't lost anytime and we haved kayaked everyday. We started with the famous todo nevados at good water flows, good lines and lot of fun, that river is a gem.

Next day was followed with two laps on the Puesco, boulder garden with continuous class Iv rapids, so good for hangovers and to just have fun paddling, making steeze and fast lines, a boater-cross here would be sick!
puesco style, puro clase IV continuado, paradise!
Third day was the day for some medio palguin action, the easiest, coolest and healthiest 70 footer that you will ever find. We ran stout 10 with pretty good lines, and Evan and me went for a second lap form the seal-lunch. We then followed down to the lower where we met with our friend from Argentina Federico and headed up and for a fast upper palguin descent!

Today was the day for salto palguin check this great shot from Mathias fossum!! I had a sweet line and everything went fine, we then kept going together with Anton and EG all the way to lower palguin running medio and everything except of turbina and brendan's rapid. stoked and getting fired up for some more fire!! chile season is coming really strong!!

Big Banana is one of my favourite sections in the world, deep inside the jungle of Veracruz river combines some of the cleanest waterfalls and rapids you can ever find. This year we have run it for 7 times, always running every single rapid. Todo big banana’s are the best!
Enjoy a few sick gopro shots that shows the section!
1st drop of the run
slide in to deep gorge

Check out this sequence where I make the last eddy in the left, almost going over the waterfall backwards and in to the bad left cave.

Canada global trip 2011

30 april – 04 october
My trip to Canada is finally over!!! What a great 5 months I had!! I bought a 40 dollars tent and started camping at the ottawa river. First days in the spring was hard, cold , millions of mosquitos and so much rain... but as soon we started getting in the summer the temperatures went up as fuck and it was like being in Africa, so hot...

Garb sick wave!
The life was super simply, wake up early in the morning and go for a session without lines up, living at 1 min of a wave makes things easier, go get food and water at Beachburg (4 km.) walking  and hickeyking in the beggining but had bike after a few months (Thanks John and David) !! Get wood and cook some food, sleep a bit, go kayak to exhaustation in whatever of the waves is working, met up with many of the ottawa rats and go drinking and party either on WT or portage.... yes such an amazing life!

fuckin good times surfing with my brother in white dog!
hope you get well soon and we can go run the shit again!
I’m sure many people would get tired of living this way, is hard and monoton sometimes, when it’s cold and rainy, when you don’t have more books to read and there’s nothing to do.  But me I could live my entire life like that, love it! I havent seen such a clear change of the season as in canada, from one day to the other is summer, hot as fuck, and suddenly fall. All strong red fleeces , beauty landscape no matter the season. The valley has a strong power, it’s really easy to get stucked on it, just because the kayaking is too good and easy.

Typical canadian phrases:
- Thats awesomme!
- let’s get fuckdup!
- fuck you!
- dont talk, smoke!
- tabarnac!
-i’m weisted!

KAYAK AREAS:
ottawa river, ontario: HOME. The ottawa has been my home for a few months, It’s a sick place to live, no cops, easy life, good weather and a river where you can kayak everyday. There’s a lot of different waves wich makes of this river one of the best freesyle trainings in the entire world.
Northern quebec: The north of Quebec is a wild region, so much water, big waves and stouts to run! Paradise!
Montreal: Montreal is one of the sickest cities I’ve been. So much things to do, it’s definetly a sportsman city, If I ever live in a city that would be Montreal, Habitat 67 and lachine rapids has a lot to do with it, two of the most incredibles in the world just in the middle of this city, pretty cool eh?
BC: Unluckily for me I never made it there, but BC is known to be one of the creeking paradises in the world, so many stout waterfalls, big volume rivers and beautiful scenary. Next year!!

Rio ottawa, ontario: CASA.
Pronto!

MONEY:
Depends a lot on the lifestyle you are having, but you can make things pretty cheap, the food is not that expensive compared to Spain, if you don’t have to pay for shelter or a car you are not going to waste that much money.
-       5 months in Canada (1100 dolares)  average (7 dollars per day) I think I waste more money in spain.....
-       If you stay in a rafting company money goes out like crazy the average Is around 30 box a day no matter that you sleep in the floor anyway.

DINERO:
alicia discovering the big whitewater of Quebec, DETONATOR!
CAR / NO CAR
Have a car in Canada is one of the most amazinf things in the world! Being the 2nd biggest country in the world, Canada is huge! The buses are so expensive that it’s not worth it to take them, If you get together with a group of friends just buy one for the time you’re there, there’s good cars for not more than a thousand dollars.
Coche/ no coche

DON'T:
-       Never leave any food inside of your tent, dry bag... the only way to don’t get it stolen from a racoon is by ting it up on a rope or putting in a closed barrel.
Never clean your ass with a bad plant called posion ivy, hurts so much for like a month!

gerinower sick shot by myles clark.
racing full on in the whitewater grand prix!

BEST OF:
Lachine hell roadtrip
Best trick; pan-am to helix
Best food:
Best wave: Mini-bus & Ruins
Best competition: White water grand prix
Best rapid: Dobleau-Mistassibi
Most Beautiful girls: Montreal  city
Best day of kayaking: Habitat 67, Lachine rapids & the sisters in one day....
Best party: portage’s are fun, and the whitewater grand prix parties were great too.
Best experience: one day I was paddling the river super early and there was a bear swimming on the river, I got super close to him and then he ran away. Was sick!

For sure this trip would have been so hard to make it happen without the help that everybody gave me.
Thanks Marcos, Tino, Izabel, Pat, Deuce, David, Jodie and Carly, Sam, and so many other people that was always there to give a hand. LOVE YOU!
